Meet the midwife
My midwifery journey took a winding path. I actually started as a nurse and worked with children in the ICU. Labor and birth had always captured my attention so I had decided to change and began working as a labor and delivery nurse. I quickly found myself in love with all things pregnancy, labor, and birth. I was not in love with the environment I worked in.
It wasn't long before I learned about home birth and found a local home birth midwife to assist. It changed my life. I will never forget the raw beauty of watching women labor in the comfort of their home, witness their triumph as they birthed their babies, and feel their peace as they tucked into their own bed, nursed their newborn, and family came to bask in the joy of their newest member.
It did not take long for me to decide to begin a midwifery apprenticeship. I chose to study the Certified Professional Midwife path because I knew, in my heart, the only place for me was at home. Certified Professional Midwives specialize in community birth and is the only training pathway that actually requires community birth experience. My apprenticeship and training lasted 3 years. During this time, I also worked as a nurse at The Birth Center in Delaware.
Through my journey I have gotten to know a wonderful community of people throughout Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Women and people who are strong, independent, and wise. I have been honored to walk alongside every person I have worked with during their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. Meet the
I am a mother, doula, and birth assistant, and I am a fierce believer that every mother deserves care that centers her experience. I believe that when mothers feel heard, supported, and empowered through birth, they are better able to step into motherhood with confidence and strength. Supporting mothers in this way creates a ripple effect that strengthens families and, ultimately, our communities.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Kristen in several capacities—as a doula at The Birth Center, as a fellow midwifery student, and now as her assistant. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue learning from her and to support the families in her care.
In addition to working as a birth assistant with Kristen, I work as a doula at The Birth Center and am pursuing my RN. Before entering birth work, I worked as an infant daycare teacher, where I developed a deep appreciation for supporting families during the earliest years of their children’s lives.
Outside of birth work, I am a proud mother to two beautiful little girls. I love to cook, garden, preserve food, and ride horses. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve families in our community here at the junction of Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
